Jack is an impact-driven consultant who specialises in energy modelling and carbon assessment. Jack brings a distinct combination of skills – able to use data to analyse and solve complex problems in the built environment.

Prior to founding his consultancy business, Jack earned an MSc in High Performance Buildings from the University of Plymouth, which followed a bachelors degree in mathematics. Since graduating in 2020, Jack has spent spent his early career using data to shine light on our buildings working in built environment research and development where he has played a key role in a number of research projects. This research is reported in peer-reviewed journal articles on building modelling and monitoring and involved working with different stakeholders to inform decision making.

Jack’s knowledge and experience led him to achieve Incorporated Engineer status as an Associate Member of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers in 2023 and he continues to work towards full Chartership. He is a fully accredited Energy Assessor for new build and existing homes, and holds additional qualifications as a Certified Passivhaus Consultant and AECB Retrofit Coordinator.

Jack says:

“Here in the South West the built environment sector is on the cusp of something huge. The Future Homes Standard is just around the corner and regulations are tightening. Meanwhile, local planning authorities in Devon and Cornwall have introduced stringent new environmental requirements and many clients are prioritising high levels of sustainability.

“The built environment sector is transforming around us and ensuring projects meet regulations and clients’ needs is more important than ever before.

“I feel a deep sense of mission to use my skills to make a difference as our built environment continues to transform. That is what inspired me to found my freelance consultancy business, so that I can continue providing practical ways to improve our buildings – and support the people who design, build and use them.”
